1. 數位專業設計所帶來的高性能
FL-50R是專門針對數位攝影而設計的閃光燈，使光線發射和亮度控制電路實現了畫面區域上一致的光照效果和極高的亮度控制精度。同時，FL-50R擁有可在四個方向上轉動的旋轉閃光頭。而由於擁有較高的光照強度，所以閃光指數可高達12
mm（相當於35 mm相機上的24 mm）上的28和42 mm（相當於35 mm相機上的84 mm）上的50（當ISO速度為100時）。
閃光覆蓋角度可根據可交換鏡頭種類通過自動變焦加以設定，也可手動進行設置，而內建寬張面板則可有效覆蓋8 mm（相當於35 mm相機上的16
mm）焦距所需的大照射角度。如果配合使用了SHV-1閃光燈高壓套件，則可在小於1.3秒的時間內對閃光燈進行充電。
2. 用於實現增強光照效果的配件
為了實現增強的光照效果，FL-50R將FLBA-1閃光燈柔光罩和FLRA-1閃光燈反光板作為標準配件提供。FLBA-1安裝在閃光頭上，它通過減弱反射拍攝中產生的陰影輪廓來發散照明光線，從而達到柔化反射光線的目的。

FLRA-1不僅能夠提供一種光線捕獲效果，而且能夠通過提供輔助正面光照來對反射光照的效果進行柔化，以消除反射拍攝中產生的陰影。它既可裝在閃光頭的較短邊緣，也可安裝在較長邊緣上。這使得它既可用於垂直方向的天花板反射，也可在水準方向的牆面反射中使用，從而能夠在範圍更廣的拍攝環境下充分利用反射照明的效果。
FLRA-1既可安裝於以前的FL-50和FL-36電子閃光燈，也可安裝在新推出的FL-36R電子閃光燈上。
